Project Description:

AISD Mendez Middle School underwent a comprehensive restoration and roofing upgrade to extend the life of the facility and ensure long-term performance.

Sunbelt’s work began with building envelope restoration, which included sealant remediation and limestone repair across the exterior façade. These repairs addressed weathering and deterioration while improving water resistance and maintaining the school’s appearance.

In addition, Sunbelt completed a full roof replacement. The scope included removal of the existing BUR system, replacement of rotted deck areas, and installation of new insulation, coverboard, and a fully adhered PVC roof system. The team also added coping and flashing upgrades, new joint metals, a guardrail system, and a replacement roof hatch ladder to improve safety and functionality.

Together, these efforts delivered a complete envelope solution for AISD, improving energy efficiency, safety, and long-term durability for the campus.

Scope of work:

• Sealant remediation and limestone repair

• Roof replacement including deck repairs, insulation, and coverboard

• Installation of new PVC roofing system

• New sheet metal components including coping, flashing, and expansion joints

• Installation of guardrail system and interior roof hatch ladder
